Bluegrass Woman

West Virginia University Bluegrass Band member Hillary Kay sings and studies the song "Pretty Polly," about a man who intends to marry Polly but kills her when she becomes "afraid of his ways." Kay, as part of her master's degree in musicology, is examining from a women's perspective bluegrass songs that depict violence against women or marginalize them.
